Runway 25L/07R at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS) is scheduled to be closed from November 1, 2008 until May 1, 2009 for construction. The runway closure is expected to have a major impact on arrival and departure rates resulting in likely delays in and out of the airport during construction.

Basically, they won't have anything close to full runway capacity unless the winds are light. Ugh.

That explains why yesterday was a mess. Winds were not that strong, but evidentally strong enought to cause 90+ minute delays. Since ATC will blame flow control on the winds, the airlines will be off the hook for compensation (blame it on the weather )

People were not happy yesterday at the AA counters.

Brutal today at around 1pm. I can't believe they would accept this much of a performance hit. It's enough to make me look at rebooking my next two LAS flights. :(

Today and tomorrow should be nice. FAA has so far posted "runway construction" for delay programs, so I don't know if airlines will insist on it being "weather".

Don't see serious delays into LAS on UA today. Didn't check other carriers.

Nasty (90 minute) delays on inbound UA traffic all afternoon yesterday. Looks like the morning is OK but afternoon, forget about it!
