For what it's worth, QF has posted a good number of ads in the fancier parts of BsAs advertising the new flight to SYD (non-stop, right?). Has a picture of a 747 flying over Sydney.
Hopefully it's successful....
(non-stop, right?)

Is this gonna be another FCO CDG route that will eventually fail or is the demand actually there?

CDG failed because the French Govt would allow 3 or 4 slots/week.
FCO declined to unprofitability because there were fewer and fewer first generation Italian migrants heading home to see relatives and it became a low profit tourist route.
Have you flown the LA flight to South America. It's usually very full, and I would take QF over AR any day of the week and it flies pretty full too.

Fares to South America are also quite high.
Will QF use the AA or LA lounge in EZE?

I was in the Sao Paulo QF ticket office and was talking to the agent about the new EZE service. He showed me on his screen some special economy fares that QF have for sale this week EZE-SYD-EZE $US747 + taxes and GRU-SYD-GRU $US947 + taxes. Fares were available for travel until Nov 30th and March 1st - May 31st.
I can't for the life of me find these fares on ITA but they do exist! I can find LAN fares for just over $US1000 all-in from EZE using the LA-coded QF flight

Last time I looked, pretty good connection timings with BA in both directions - maybe another source of Award Bookings to Europe. ^

Anyone knows how is QF doing in EZE since it started the route. I assume all QF B747s have the new skybed seats?
Tks,

All 744's have "the Old Skybed" seats ... the 388's have the new (lie flat) ones ...
More on the "Old" skybeds here:

(Select "on board", then "Skybed" or "next")
November and December 09 award bookings SYD-EZE seem quite popular ;)

Can anyone see an EZE-SYD o/w award booking? Changing the site to Argentina doesn't help. Is it a phone job? I'm going to be looking to get back from somewhere in the Americas early Jan 2010. I know, good luck! :( May end up being via Asia.

Yes - a phone job - especially since EZE is not selectable from the QF award web page. Will this get a "fee free" transaction if the phone operator is asked nicely?
EDITED: EZE may not be available as an origin point, however you will be able to see award availability if you enter SYD-EZE-SYD.
