Star Alliance - Rookie question - Airplane Codes

I'm researching for a vacation trip for my wife and I to Europe next year. Its probably via Germany to Italy on Lufthansa, (from looking at the ANA tool, many thanks to you folks).

Being a novice flyer, I'm not up to snuff on airplane codes and preferences.

For the transatlantic leg, I'm seeing 333 and 343, which I figure are the Airbus planes, and 744 and 763, the Boeing planes. For the intra-Europe legs, I see 143, 319, 321, AT5, AR7, and AR8. I have no clue what they are, but figure they must be small regional planes.

Do we have a thread or an external link which compares them for size, comfort etc? Do you have any favorites or avoids among them?

This is a bit off topic but I try to answer this anyway, before this thread gets moved.

The abbreviations used are a mixture of the the general type of plane as well as the specific variant.
For example a 744 refers to a Boeing 747 of the 747-400 variant. A 343 is an Airbus A340 of the A340-300 sort.

A321, A320, A319 etc. are Airbuses of reasonable size, comparable to a Boeing 737.
A 143 is a BAE 146.

I successfully booked two adjoining C seats that look good based on your tips, window and aisle, for our trip next year. It was nice to know what was there before asking for the seats.
