Asiana Club - OZ361 Showing as 777 but sold F Seat?

Hello, my first time posting in this forum and I have a question

I booked a seat on OZ361 ICN-PVG today as part of a multi-flight trip and was able to book into F class on this sector. This flight is oprated by a 747 most days of the week but on Saturdays (the day I will be travelling in April), the aircraft type is a 777. My reservation clearly shows F class but also shows aircraft type as 777 as does every other website I have checked. I'm pretty sure OZ doesn't have F on the 777 so I guess I will either an equipment change to a 74E or downgraded to C.

Does anyone know which of these 2 scenarios is most likely. OZ are selling F class on this route for every Saturday I have checked in April but all show a 777. Also I can't get a seat selection online for this sector it says to call

Thanks.

April? It is very likely that aircraft will be changed. Besides, Asiana will start taking new 777s with F soon. Starting late Nov 29, it shows 777 will run on ICN-ORD-ICN which (still) sells F class. It can be the new 777, so as yours.

OZ 202 ICN-LAX showing as 3 class 777 on 11/30. Thought about booking this flight for a second, but concerned that I could be stuck in C seat or old config 747 combi if the 777 isnt ready.

The 747 OZ flies to PVG is a combi freighter with old F seats. I highly doubt they will fly a 777 with new F on this short regional route.

Their regional F service is quite good though, so I recommend flying the 747 if possible.

Thanks for the responses. Didn't realise OZ was taking more 777s with F. Are these more -200s or -300ER? I would think if they are coming factory fresh from Boeing they might be delayed due to the strike. Hopefully not too long though.

I'm not overly concerned what seat I get anyway as its only a short sector to connect with NZs PVG-AKL flight. Was actually hoping for the 747 combi but anything with an F seat will do. More interested in experiencing the service than the hard product. The rest of my trip is in C so this little F sector was a free bonus and if the worst happens and I end up in C then fine :)

I will be 772ER. It already postponed for about 3 months due to strike. Hopefully no more delays are made.

Probably a dumb question, but the new 772s with F have the "new" F seat, right?

Unlikely as they only have one which is used for regional routes only. No more old C seats on long haul flights on OZ.

I just purchased an AMEX 2 for 1 ticket LAX/ICN on a 777 for 29 November. They offered First on the flight but I opted for C because I thought that they no longer have old seats. Do they still have them? If there is 1% chance I can get the old seats then I'm not flying with them.

Let me know!! Thanks.

Kinda seems pointless to have the "old" configuration on board a new plane when they're trying to reconfigure all the planes, n'est-ce pas?

All 777s are with new C seats. 747s, on the other hand, has some chance to face old config if supposed-regional-747combi temporally run for longhauls. Unless your flight is changed to 747, you will be okay.

Was thinking about how LH put old style C seats into re-configured A300s.

The new 777 3-class configuration is F8C28Y226

http://airlineroute.blogspot.com/2008/11/asiana-new-777-200-cabin-configuration.html

First service currently planned for 29NOV08 to ORD, followed by once a week to PVG from 06DEC08 (Day 6 only).

Note ASIANA's internal code for this cabin configuration is 77C (long-haul) and 773 (regional).

Thanks for the update, jiml1126! Your description of seat layout seems almost same as KE's new 772 which is F8C28Y225. In fact, hardware products of OZ are all similar to KE's. By the way, I don't understand why Asiana set old configuration as 773, because it is still 777-200ER.

ASIANA already has configuration 77A and 77B. So it seems quite obvious they use 77C or even 773 for their internal code.

I think there is just one or two left and they only operate on regional routes. So you should be fine. There is a chance but I would say it is less than 1%.

Well ICN-HKG is showing as a 777 with F available on 26DEC.

Am I going to get F or should I book with caution?

Based on ASIANA's inventory, 777 F-class Service on OZ721/722 begins on 28NOV08 every Friday. It's going to be like any other flight, aircraft may be subject to change in the last minute
