Others need to apply for the visa with a sponsor (could be a travel agent) before arriving at UAE airport. Not sure about the cost (300DH???). BiziBB Oct 28, 08, 4:02 pm Apologies - I had the link and not the right one! Doha seems to be a fair drive away, when I checked last time, from Abu Dhabi. Especially for women drivers. ;) Here's the UAE visa info: Free for listed countries - granted on arrival: Entry Visit Visa (http://www.uaeembassy.org.au/visas.htm) Nationals of the following countries are permitted to enter the United Arab Emirates without a pre-obtained Entry Visit Visa. However, the Entry Visit Visa will be granted by the UAE Authorities upon arrival at any UAE ports (air, land and sea) valid for 60 days and free of charge. This visa could be extended for another 30 days and the fee will be 500.00 Dirham (equivalent to AU$250.00). These requirements are also applied to the holders of diplomatic and official passports. Any person who enters the UAE by an Entry Visit Visa is not allowed to work in the UAE, paid or unpaid. The regulations of the Transit Visa are not applied to the Nationals of the countries listed below. Western European Countries Austria, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Luxembourg, Belgium, Monaco, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal, France, San Marino, Germany, Spain, Greece, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland, Iceland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Vatican, Italy Other Countries Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Malaysia, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan United States of America Citizens of the Arab Gulf Co-operation Council Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar Nationals of the countries who are not listed in the above table can obtain the Entry Visit Visa to enter UAE by being sponsored by a friend or relative who lives in UAE, or by a hotel or a company based in UAE. After all, US allowed a number of new EU member states visa free entry, so maybe things changed a bit in the UAE too? BiziBB Jan 11, 09, 7:05 am Any idea if the list of EU countries has changed? After all, US allowed a number of new EU member states visa free entry, so maybe things changed a bit in the UAE too? It would be best for you to check with your local UAE consulate. If you click the link in my post above, there was a list: http://www.uaeembassy.org.au/images/visas/flag.gif There is also a link to the UAE visa page. UAE Visitor visa (http://www.government.ae/gov/en/visitors/uae/visas.jsp) That page advises you to check with your local consulate or travel agent, in case there have been recent changes. PurpleTravel Jan 11, 09, 7:45 am Can't speak for all nationalities (obviously), but my husband just entered free as a Spaniard and I entered free as an American. My sense is that they haven't changed, especially as there is a big push to promote tourism- but definitely worth looking into for your country of origin! |
