Which fare classes earn full 100% EQM/RDM on OZ? The website only mentions V/W classes earning 70% and G/T classes earning 80%, so does this mean all other Y fare classes earn 100% (except for awards)? TIA.

The website only mentions V/W classes earning 70% and G/T classes earning 80%, so does this mean all other Y fare classes earn 100% (except for awards)? TIA. LAX philphys Oct 22, 08, 11:51 pm In my experiences, outbound from US, K fares were the cheapest ones that gave you 100% while the cheaper L fares gave you none. Looking into the published fare rules, the next higher (to K) was usually Q. So it should be safe to say that *published* K and higher (K/Q/H/M/E/B/Y) will earn you 100%. V/W and G/T look like special fares only accessible to specific people, not general public. (i.e. students, group travels, etc..?) According to the website, there is nothing to indicate L fares earn no mileage but actual fare rules state that no mileage will be accrued. (I know, I have pored through one and the travel agent I was in contact with for the ticket was quite surprised when she contacted Asiana for confirmation when I insisted on it) Also, I heard that many fares outbound from Korea (no idea what there fare classes are) has the same restriction, forbidding any mileage accrual. If you really want to be sure, try and get the whole fare rule for the specific fare (usually 4-6 letters) and see if it has an entry forbidding mileage accrual. If the fare is published, you can get one from ITA website (http://beta.itasoftware.com). If there is none, I think it's safe to assume it will accrue 100% mileage unless Asiana website guideline explicitly states otherwise. (For example, K fares say nothing about mileage accrual in their fare rules but I know they get 100%) Looking at United MileagePlus accural table, I'm missing S/U (100% into MP) and N/R (0% into MP) but I have never came across them so I don't know anything about them. EDIT: On which account are you going to put the mileage? United MP or Asiana? That can change everything. I was assuming the mileage will be accrued on Asiana program. If it's going to be on United MP, refer to United website. It will always have the most up-to-date and accurate information. I am actually looking to defect to OZ, so the miles will be accrued into an OZ account. With regards to V/W fares, I think I can get that from most consolidators. The ones of interests are Q/K because these are a bit more expensive than V/W and may be worth it if they earn 100% vs. 70%. I guess I should call OZ and see what the official policy is. BTW, thanks for the heads up on L fares. LAX philphys Oct 24, 08, 12:08 am The ones of interests are Q/K because these are a bit more expensive than V/W and may be worth it if they earn 100% vs. 70%. LAX The K fares I mentioned were SEA-ICN, last Sep. and again this Sep. I got 100% for both. The L fare in question was SFO-ICN this Sep., which was about $30 cheaper than K SEA-ICN. AFAIK SFO-ICN had no K fare, only L (0%) and the next up was Q (~$300 higher). |
