After much hemming and hawing.. I've bit the bullet and registered for the 2009 San Diego 3-Day. So please consider making a donation (http://www.the3day.org/goto/missy-san09) to this great cause.

Anyone in the area that weekend is welcome to join the public events.

Opening Ceremonies:
Friday November 20th, 6:30 a.m. (yes, I said a.m.)
Del Mar Fairgrounds

Cheering Stations:

From the 3-Day Spectator Info Page: (http://www.the3day.org/site/PageServer?pagename=SD_Spectator)

Public cheering stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise - anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.

Friday, November 20:

11:20 am - 2:20 pm
Coast Park Blvd
430 Coast Blvd. (south of Cuvier Street)
La Jolla, CA

12:30 pm - 5:15 pm
Fanuel Street Park
4000 Fanuel Street
San Diego, CA 92109

Saturday, November 21:

9:15 am - 3:30 pm
Ocean Beach Surf Spot
1900 Abbott Street
San Diego, CA 92107

10:50 am - 3:30 pm
South Mission
2600 Mission Blvd.
San Diego, CA 92109

Sunday, November 22:

6:45 am - 8:45 am
De Anza Cove
2700 North Mission Bay Drive
San Diego, CA 92109

11:15 am - 2:45 pm
Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater
2150 Park Blvd.
San Diego, CA 92101

Closing Ceremonies:
Sunday, November 22nd, 4:30 p.m.
Petco Park

But really, the point of this thread is to ask the all important question... where to have a post event dinner, and who's coming?!?!?!

Since last year the word has added a new meaning, just to confuse the thread:

Excellent! We are on our way to an excellent dinner. foady, can you scout Hillcrest for an appropriate restaurant? I'd prefer your neighborhood to something in the Gaslamp Quarter, given that I live considerably to the north.

Missy, do you know yet where you will stay?

missydarlin
Aug 9, 09, 6:15 pm
no.. they haven't told us what the route is or where the end ceremony will be.

I'll likely be staying somewhere very close to the airport sunday night for my way too early flight home Monday morning

missydarlin
Sep 15, 09, 12:24 am
Closing Ceremony (to which you are all invited) will be at Petco Park at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, and I'm staying at the Westin Gaslamp Sunday night for my ugly early flight Monday morning.

I won't have a car, but If someone wants to pick me up, or point me towards the appropriate public transportation option ... I'm happy to eat anywhere. I would suspect that there will be about 4000 hungry walkers trying to eat in Gaslamp/Downtown Sunday night.

For the super ambitious... the Opening Ceremony is at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and starts at 6:30 a.m.

I'm going to bring my excess supply of hotel toiletries to gift in hopes that someone will give them a home.

I've got airline pjs. If you'd like a pair, send me a PM. We'll work out a carrier/size. I've got some Asiana pjs that seem a bit girly, even though they are handed out to their predominantly male F passengers.

And I'll happily accept anyone's excess sticks of lip balm. Picky me - I don't like the pots or tubes.
