Newsstand - The Creeps On the Board of IAD

This Washington Post editorial today

is about the creeps on the IAD board who abuse their priveleges by assigning themselves visits to exotic locales, layovers in Las Vegas, limos to and from the airports on their junkets, FC only (or I'll quit the board!), itineraries that allow a companion to fly free with them, etc....

The editorial missed the most important point. They act like greedy pigs in scarfing up every perquisite they can, but they oversee ONE OF THE WORST AIRPORTS IN THE WORLD!

If their IAD gig doesn't work out they can always find comparable employment as school superintendents in New Jersey.

Even more troubling are the reactions by some board members to inquiries by Post reporter Amy Gardner. Charles D. Snelling, a businessman who has taken $67,695 worth of trips since 2005, said, "I'm a volunteer. If anybody thinks I'm going economy class, you know, why, they can take the job and shove it." H.R. Crawford, a former D.C. Council member who is chairman of the authority, said, "I do not fly coach. I can't. I'm not going to." Mr. Crawford, one the worst offendersmemo to mssrs. snelling & crawford: find another volunteer job and stop wasting the taxpayers money :td:

Wow. H. R. Crawford. A man who was too corrupt for the DC Council in its bad old days. I'd love to know who put him in any job, paid or not.

They also oversee DCA, which is far better than IAD. Gotta love that Crawford understands the concept of stopovers - a trip to SEA does indeed require a stopover somewhere, most likely LAS, despite those pesky AS DCA-SEA and UA IAD-SEA non-stops.

MWAAhaha is at it again....

The same can be said for any LAB (Local Airport Bureaucracy). All are wasteful pork for political hacks.

Thank Pres. Bush for raising the walk-through-the-airport tax aka Passenger Facility Charge three times thereby slopping the trough for these pigs.
