ASIANA's new low-cost carrier, Air Busan (http://flyairbusan.com/AB/airbusan/main.jsp), is set to launch on 27OCT08.
ASIANA is transferring its 9 Daily Seoul Gimpo - Busan to the new carrier from 27OCT08 and 5 Daily Busan - Jeju from 01DEC08. ASIANA will still be serving these routes under code-share format.
Air Busan is owned by ASIANA (46%) and Busan local government and businesses. It is to operate 2 737-500, transferred from ASIANA.
According to Wikipedia, it is to become a member of Star Alliance, assuming it'll be equivalent to the relationship of Air Canada - Air Canada Tango or UNITED - Ted. Both of those relationship has ended since both merged back into mainline
The 2-letter code is "BX".

I love how the plane that's floating around on their home page is an A330 yet they don't own any of those and probabaly won't in the near future.

Nice find! Especially since they only have those ancient 737-500s. Oh, and congratulation to your 1000th post.

Unfortunately, TED is not yet dead until sometime next year. Nonetheless, all TED flights bare the UA flight designation in contrast to BX having its own designation.

The day before yesterday, I was on their inaugural flight GMP-PUS.
From Check-in to arrival, everything was a breeze.
Upon Disembarkment, we were cordially greeted by OZ's chairman and president. Overall, I had an excellent flight.

Great, maybe you can write a mini Trip Report? How much of a budget carrier are they?
Do they interline, have food etc? What is the cabin like?

I was holding an OZ ticket.
The flight was a code-share flight operated by Air Busan.
I don't know if they interline yet, because I just flew GMP-PUS one way.
Took a speed train back to Seoul later on the day. Water and O-juice were offered just like on OZ.
The plane was a B737-500 in a white color scheme.
One class configuration. The cabin looked spotless clean, although the plane showed its age.
It was a short( 50 minutes flying time including taxing and take-off) flight.
I closed my eyes during the flight as I was very tired from a Soju ritual with my Korean colleagues in the previous night. :D

They have baggage interline but not E-Ticket if you book the flight as "BX".
On Amadeus you can only book as "OZ" flight number

There is subtle differences between buying OZ ticket and BX ticket, although they are same flights. OZ price is around 5% higher than BX's, but can accumulate mileage. AFAIK, we cannot get mileage to any star alliance from BX ticket. Also if I'm right, one can take BX flight as OZ mileage awards. I'm not sure if BX sector can be added on other star alliance airliners' award such as UA or so because it is OZ's codeshare flight.
By the way, BX ticket can be purchased on BX website. Not sure if it is possible through the phone or travel agency.

Travel agency can only book "BX" coded flight on BX website. GDS, at least in Amadeus, is only showing as "OZ" codeshare.
