Don't know whether anyone remembers a while back when I was complaining that NW wouldn't transfer my deceased husband's miles to my account. Well, after a bit more correspondence and requested paperwork they have done the transfer. Thank you NW.

Whom did you call/write to? I called WorldPerks sveral times & was told no--a new policy for 2003. My late mother has a measly 1515 miles, but it would be nice to add them to my acct.

Funny, I asked that same thing about a year ago about NW. I called them and they said no too. Perhaps because it was your deceased husband, it was an easier "Yes".
They told me that with parents, there might be other heirs, (lame, but I can see that there might be the possibility of conflict).

Well, someone suggested that I keep posting miles to the account until I have enough for a rewards ticket (she had about 15,000 miles).

Meanwhile, I managed to get her ff number and set up a log-in using my own password, so I do have access to the account.

Good luck.
Rita

I am not sure they would do it for anyone other than a spouse. I had to send them a marriage certificate, birth certificates, death certificate and a copy of our will showing that I am the beneficiary and executor.

Generally the miles in the account can still be used for the heirs whom the original account holder was permitted to have awards issued to. But the miles may not be combined with miles in another account in order to accumulate enough miles to get an award with.

In 1998, my father passed away. I was his "Personal Representative" (executor of his will and trust). At the time, we both were USAir frequent flyers. I contacted USAir and they transferred his miles to my account. However, I had to send a letter, a certified copy of his death certificate, and a certified copy of the "Letter of Administration" from the county court in Maryland that showed I was his Personal Representative.

Lots of time has passed since then. I would not be surprised if airlines have different rules now.

You are lucky. Qantas have a rule - on death all points are forfeit - even to spouse use.
