I want to fly my cousin NYC-SAN but I can probably do better than 25,000, no? Is there a site that lists all the discounted awards available?

I am no expert, but I know that depending on time of year, America West is only 20,000 for a domestic ticket. Additionally, if you have the Citibank Mastercard they run quarterly discounts on award tickets. They are listed on the Citibank website.

Probably a better question would be what Airline actually has seats available at the published rate as opposed to expecting double the "Advertised" rate to redeem with any regularity

My personal experience

Delta

7 Coach Round Trips (2 separate times)- Minor Juggling of departure times and routing achieved tickets very easily

America West

2 Trips Very short notice, was able to get standard first at the same price as easy pass coach (40K Miles each)

Continental

3 Coach R/T's 3 F/C R/T's

Very little availabilty on Continental for Standard Awards, I got very lucky and snagged 3 Coach and 2 F/C for a single R/T to Honolulu at the standard rate, however every time I go on line to look I have never been abale to locate anything available at a mileage price I an willing to pay.

I had wanted to use the Citibank AA 17,500 award but they cut southern Cali out of it.

There's two places:
Over on WebFlyer, they have a tool called Deal Watch which has a 'Miles Deal' tool which tracks some of the special awards:
http://webflyer.com/deals/dealwatch/search_miles.php

There is also a special section monthly in InsideFlyer magazine titled 'Award Watch' which highlights a variety of special limited time only awards offered by programs.

I think with use you'll find these two resources to be of wonderful use.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Randy.

I was actually trying to access InsideFlyer online but didn't have any of my magazines with me so couldn't input the code. I guess I'll have to wait for the next one to come. When is that, by the way?

If you had US Dividend Miles and were traveling before March 2004, it could be done for 20,000 miles.

They still have an off-peak award for that amount of miles.
