Greetings,
I have as of yet managed to avoid flying through FRA but will in a week be forced to do so. I am aware of the new SEN lounges operating at the 380 gates but also of another non-Schengen SEN lounge. I will arrive from the Schengen area and leave for PHL and have a hefty 4 hr 20 min layover. Which lounge is most comfy, has at least a semblance of food other than gummibärchen and crackers and is most convenient to use with this flight pattern. I have searched high and low through the forums, but since I really do not know which gates LH generally use for PHL, nor the layout of FRA I am confused.
Kind rgds

PHL usually leaves from the upper A gates (use this form (http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/de/info_and_services/flightinfo/arrivals_departures?l=en&nodeid=1649781&cid=18002) to check for the last few days). The best SEN lounge to use for those is probably the Schengen SEN lounge near gate A26 - it's only a set of stairs and a quick Passport control that never has queues from the US-bound gates. There is also another SEN lounge on the upper A level, but it's quite small.

Tks a lot. I was a bit wary of remaining on the Schengen side because my wife leaves on an earlier flight, but if queues in security are negligible it seems to be an excellent suggestion!

There is no security control going from the Schenen to non-Schengen areas, just a passport control. And while lines e.g. at the main B area passport control can be longer, I've never seen a line of more than 2 or three people at the small one A26.

I just yesterday was confronted with a similar issue - LH flight to ATL delayed by 2.5 hours on top of a 2 hour planned layover.
I finally decided to go to the new SEN lounge at C14/16 (although it's a long walk from the central B area (from A to B take the train) and a hassle to explain the various luggage check and other agents why you want to go to terminal C with a boarding pass for a terminal A flight.....).
The SEN lounge in terminal A that I visited shortly before the flight was overfilled, noisy, bad air and small selection of food (but I wanted to be closer to the gate as boarding time approached) while the SEN lounge in C was spacious, plenty of seating for just a few pax, power plugs were available and food and beverage selection was decent.
