This may be a very strange question, but is it possible to buy a McGriddle in South Korea at McDonalds? I work for a radio station and we are helping a Michigan-based soldier who misses McGriddles. We will be flying to Seoul to bring a care package and will bring frozen McGriddles if they cannot be purchased in Korea. Thanks for your help.

Not that Wikipedia is always the best source, but this entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McGriddles) indicates that they're only available in the US, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Guatemala and Singapore...no South Korea. Any chance of a stopover in Tokyo along the way?

Good luck!

Doesn't appear on their online breakfast menu either:

Looks like some dry ice may may be your best friend...

And ^ for helping bring this care package to him!

Looks like some dry ice may may be your best friend...Just a warning that if using "dry" ice, you need to be careful to adhere to your airline's restrictions.

E.g., NW's rules are:
Dry Ice: May be carried onboard in quantities of 4 pounds (2 kg) or less when used for packing perishables. The dry ice must be packaged in a hard plastic container that allows ventilation and is clearly labeled as containing dry ice. Please advise a ticket or gate agent if you plan to travel with dry ice. See the Dry Ice section for details.

When are you there?

I'm in Seoul Monday and can check - I doubt it... McDonalds Japan (including the one in Narita airport T1 airside) DID have McGriddles. You guys flying directly to Seoul or via Tokyo?

Slight OT but I really wish the McGriddles gets picked up in the rest of Asia. Most of the countries I travel to with clients (Hong Kong, Taiwan, China) do not carry McGriddles at all. They do carry Egg McMuffin which is the second best thing behind the McGriddles however

When I was in Seoul this summer I don't remeber them on the menu. But I only took the girls there once and I did not order.

I will be arriving in Seoul on 7/8 @ 9:00pm, and it looks like I will be getting NW's permission to carry dry ice aboard. Thanks so much for all of your help.

They have McGriddles at the McDonalds in Tokyo as of last month. I hate them personally, but my friend loves them.

How about going to your local McD's ordering your McGriddles, disassembled. Explain to the manager what you are doing. Toss the insides, save the McGriddle-specific outsides. When in Seoul, go with your soldier to McD's, order whatever available biscuit- or muffin-built breakfast sandwich that provides the filling he most craves, disassemble and re-build on the McGriddle elements you brought. Might have to figure out how to heat them up.
If you realy make nice with the Seoul McD's manager, they may even utilize your imported bits to make fresh sandwiches.

The US McD's manager may even cut you a deal on a case of McGriddle bits, if you thioroughly explain and offer to bring back photos of the grateful GI imbibing said treat, suitable for local media exploitation. I believe they are pre-made rather than cooked to order at the restaurant.

Can even likely do a lot of them this way, they'd pack easier, be more "durable," less prone to spoilage, and would taste "fresher" when he gets to eat them.

What a small world. HEHEHE, that was YOU this morning. :D Coincidently my radio alarm clock has been tuned to FM102.9MHz Ann Arbor for a while, and I set my alarm clock to 8:30am last night. When I woke up, I heard you talking about this on radio. Didn't even imagine that I would hear this on radio, although you mentioned you were helping a Michigan-based soldier. That said, it was very coincident. Anyhow, have a nice trip. :)
