Air New Zealand Air Points - Avoiding NZ's Code Share Partners....

So, I have my semi regular flight from MAN to NAN coming up and I was looking up options today so I could be well informed when dealing with whatever our corporate TA brings back. One thing that's clear is that NZ likes its code share partners; so much in fact that their web site not sell a flight from the UK to Fiji on the day that Air Pacific doesn't fly from LAX to NAN.

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Air Pacific. Other than the restricted leg room, inferior food, inferior entertainment, the fact that my gold card means squat and a frighteningly small economy hand luggage allowance (I'd have to check my hand luggage (including camera) in and just take a small laptop bag), they're not that bad.

So, no joy from trying NZ on the day that FJ doesn't fly. Any other ideas? Last time, our travel dept was able to get me there via AKL using separate tickets but I suspect these will come out more expensive than the code share option this time around.

Are there any other *A routes to Fiji (I suspect NZ is the only one)?

One suggestion is to buy NZ MAN AKL MAN return fare, with a stop over in NAN (though this does jack up the price)... ie MAN x/LHR x/LAX NAN AKL x/HKG x/LHR MAN

The corporate TA managed to get separate tickets MAN-LHR-MAN, LHR-AKL-HHR and AKL-NAN-AKL. The cost seems to be comparable to going the direct route. This is what I did last time and it's one hell of an economy mileage run (and also, quite frankly, hell but that's my price to pay).

It's obviously a typo for LHR

Sorry, I was really tired last night when I posted. I didn't mean to gloat on a typo; I was simply too tired to connect the dots and figure out what the poster meant.

I could correct it but that would be less effort than typing this message to say that I could correct it.....
