I'm going to move your thread into the Air New Zealand forum, since your question is about the airline and not about the country. Best of luck with your trip planning. Is Air New Zealand Premium Economy worth it--from LAX to Christchurch??I believe the general consensus is that if you're only ever used to economy anywhere, or even premium domestic cabins in the US, it could be worth it if you score a reasonable fare. But for those more experienced in premium cabins it's only worth it on the 747. The PE cabin set-up on the 777 is not even close to as friendly. Correct, the 777 PE is a rort , the seats are just economy seats , no cabin feel .....more booze and better food , 747 now thats much better experience and if you can get up stairs , JK seats ( 2 tegether ) its a very nice flight. so pick the target flight. Good luck ;) trooper Oct 17, 08, 3:38 am Well... the 777 Y+ seats do have more pitch (and recline?) so are probably better than standard Y seats....but Yes, I too would only fly in paid Y+ on the 747 given any sort of choice.... ;) Unlike most I prefer the main deck (portside) Y+ seating on the 747 (27-30 AC??)... sort of a mini-cabin feel to it.... YMMV of course.... Thai-Kiwi Oct 17, 08, 4:56 am You can also checkout www.seatguru.com and www.seatexpert.com for some views or refining any questions about seats. Cheers, TK RiskFate Oct 20, 08, 10:37 pm One advantage of booking Premium Economy is that its only one upgrade step to Busines Premier. Just did that AKL-YVR return, a very pleasant surprise to get upgraded in both directions. As I understand it on the 777 the front row of PE is much better than the second row - better recline and unlimited leg room due to it being an exit row. davidrnz Oct 20, 08, 11:47 pm One advantage of booking Premium Economy is that its only one upgrade step to Busines Premier. ... and if you don't get the upgrade, you're not stuck in cattle class. It's not pleasant on a 12+ hour flight. :( WLGNZ Oct 21, 08, 12:37 am As I understand it on the 777 the front row of PE is much better than the second row - better recline and unlimited leg room due to it being an exit row. Not quite. Front row of PE has a bulkhead between it and the exit. ntddevsys Oct 21, 08, 1:06 am ... and if you don't get the upgrade, you're not stuck in cattle class. It's not pleasant on a 12+ hour flight. :(Ah but is it pleasant in Premium Economy? davidrnz Oct 21, 08, 5:13 am I don't mind PE if I can't get an upgrade to BP, it's better than cattle (or is that sheep?) class. I have to confess I've been lucky and only done long haul PE on a 744. The 772 may well be a different story. MatthewLAX Oct 21, 08, 12:01 pm But even if you are stuck in Y, NZ's Y sure beats -all- the competition (in Star Alliance at least), IME. NZ_Flyer Oct 21, 08, 9:09 pm Another one to add to the list: 1. Don't drink (lots) and drive 2. Don't drink and text 3. Don't drink and post on FT 4. Don't post while exhausted :D erasmus99 Oct 21, 08, 10:09 pm I second that. davidrnz Oct 21, 08, 11:07 pm Am I missing something here? rich5011 Oct 22, 08, 4:21 am Am I missing something here? |
