I suspect the original news thread has been moved or locked - no sign of it in this forum (I'll check OMNI ;)). Here's the story...

Brits jailed for beach sex in Dubai (http://www.smh.com.au/news/travel/brits-jailed-for-beach-sex-in-dubai/2008/10/16/1223750218859.html)[SMH Travel]
A Dubai court today sentenced two Britons to three months in prison and ordered their subsequent deportation after they were convicted of having sex on the beach.

Michelle Palmer, a 37-year-old publishing executive in Dubai who has been sacked from her job, and Vince Acors, a 34-year-old visitor to the emirate, were found guilty of having sex in a public place in the early hours of July 5 after drinking heavily.

Judge Hamdi Abul Khair also fined the pair 1000 dirham ($A418) each for drinking alcohol.

Neither of them was in court for the verdict but both had been barred from leaving the United Arab Emirates.

What were they thinking????? Having lived in the Gulf, I can unequivocally state that such behavior is warned against when one first arrives. Plus, they were warned once by a police officer before being arrested when he came back and found them at it again.

Porn on planes, sex in public on a beach in a Muslim country - what is wrong with our culture lately?

I agree. The penalty is overly harsh from my perspective, but these Brits should have shown more respect for the local culture.

Chill out, eh? From my memory of the original thread, they were told to stop, and didn't. If you can't have a sense of humor about stuff, you shouldn't go onto the internet. ;)

Hi,

And not only that, they were warned once by the plice and then later the police caught them doing it again!

On the other hand I remember the story of a pilot and fight attendant caught having sex in the woods somewher in the US ( I do not know where) sometime ago.

Regards

Pinnacle flies RJs for NW, DL and perhaps others. Some of its aircraft carry only the Pinnacle name. In all of the articles I have read reporting this story, none of them said which major airline this particular crew was representing. And it would not be fair to NW, DL or whatever to say that the crew belonged to them in this case. Perhaps "Harrisburg" would allow a knowledgable FTer to deduce which major airline contract was involved here, but I don't know.
