How about a thread on interesting $ saving booking hints for the Trans Tasman market?

For example, in another thread Kiwi Flyer noted how booking certain itineraries on the Air NZ .nz site was cheaper than using the .au site.

Another Air NZ hint (in general, not just for TT) is that depending on seat inventory, booking two or more pax separately can be cheaper than booking all in the same transaction.

A Trans Tasman hint for Pacific Blue is that one way hidden city ticketing can save significant amounts of money.

For example for some of the dates I was looking at CHC->SYD->MEL is $219 NZD all in, while CHC->SYD is coming up at $369 NZD even though both itineraries book onto the same CHC->SYD flight.

this really annoys me - if they have one fare left at $100 and several at $150 - why can the computer system not offer you one at $100 and one a $150, rather than 2 at $150. Its crazy!

Hidden City Ticketing goes against the contract you are entering into with the airline for travel. While some may care, that's their problem. Others are completely fine with never making it from the international terminal to the domestic one.

btw have you actually read DJ's CoC?

Since that involves costing them money, most airlines aren't keen on the idea for some reason. Some 3rd party software knows enough to do (or suggest) it though.
