Tx As eireman points out - the seats are pretty good, the same as AA's but without inbuilt video sceens, you get a portable DVD player. The food on the flights I did was excellent. Amenity kits were by Bvulgari (and pretty high quality) but I think they now feature Dead Sea products. You also get a gift on each sector, varying monthly. I read somewhere people got things like an alarm clock... I got a small pottery dish made by the women's collective in Wadi Rum, which is actually pretty cool. It seemed on the HKG flight a full meal service was offered, as not one passenger that originated in HKG took part in the meal service from BKK-AMM. In July was still the Bvlgari kits....change to Dead Sea products is either positive or negative (a more Jordanian product on a Jordanian airline, but the Bvlgari kits were of a very high quality...). Seats were quite comfortable imo, but know of a friend who flew in the A310 seats and said the seats felt like they were broken - so each to their own. simonsmith Oct 12, 08, 12:17 pm All booked and for £163 0w C inc taxes was much less than any one else. Any one know which lounge in BKK they use? Tx LHR/MEL/Europe FF Oct 12, 08, 3:44 pm All booked and for £163 0w C inc taxes was much less than any one else. Any one know which lounge in BKK they use? Tx For some strange reason they use the Thai lounge. Or at least they did as recently as June this year. There is a perfectly good set of BA lounges (separate First and Business) which are open around the time of the RJ departures. The BA lounges were certainly not full at the time of the BKK-HKG flights. The use of the Thai lounge was even on the Oneworld website... go figure. The meal service BKK-HKG and vv is a full three course, entree, main and desert, but served all at once. Served with (one of the best) fresh salads I've had. There is a choice of four main for this short 2.5hr flight. Interestingly the menu is identical for the BKK-HKG as well as the HKG-BKK flight. The plates were arranged differently, so they didn't double load the meals in BKK. Don't know why they would have had the same menu. MKE-MR Jun 14, 09, 11:15 pm All booked and for £163 0w C inc taxes was much less than any one else. Any one know which lounge in BKK they use? Tx Is this price from BKK or from HKG? That's a pretty good price! Never mind, I see it is from BKK. IAATM Oct 5, 09, 4:32 pm Looking for an update: Is RJ still using the Thai lounge in BKK? I'm thinking about taking RJ from BKK-HKG on 2Jan10 in J, and want to make sure that I get access to a nice lounge, since my layover in BKK is quite long. (If anybody can comment on the relative merits of RJ vs. UL on this route in J, I'd love to hear it.) (If anybody can comment on the relative merits of RJ vs. UL on this route in J, I'd love to hear it.) My dad just flew on Friday BKK-AMM on RJ, and they still use the TG lounge in BKK. However, he has commented that RJ has slipped *substantially* in their standards. His experience was let down by the fact 15/18 passengers were upgrades (according to the F/A), who seemed to be from an Israeli tour group, who would not shut up for the entire flight, so loud in fact, my Dad had to ask the flight attendants to quieten them down! Service was average, and food quality apparently has gone down to. He was so disappointed by his experience, he is considering flying on CX via DXB back home. |
