I am relatively new to the game so just wanted to get a confirmation from FTers about how many rentals you need per year to get a Platinum status with SIXT, I have heard 15, but there is nothing on the website about it and on Russian and Czech websites, it says 20.

First of all, welcome to FT!

As far as I know it's 20 rentals per year. But there are some more opportunities to get a Sixt Platinum Card, for instance by M&M-Status (SEN).

no, they used to be partner of budget. but the platinum sixt card wont be accepted by anyone in USA as far as I know. however, through the holiday car section they will rent a car through their travel agency. but that partner won't upgrade you because of the sixt platin

Aaaaa, maybe I am going a bit overboard with this, but anyone thinks there might be a chance to get a status match with any other rental company...

I've got a Sixt Plat card through M&M Senator status valid until 2011. I just checked the sixt website and they don't seem to offer the card anymore. All google links to the card end up on the main sixt page.

Do they still offer this or do they still honour the cards and expecially the upgrades?

platinum still exists, but it's worth nothing if you ask me.

Just rented a week ago and got the benefits, incl a decent upgrade exactly to the size & engine I wanted to. ^

I have a plat card. The main benefit is really the upgrade. Lot of times, I really got amazing cars I would have nevered afforded.

i am going to try the mobility guaranteed benefit on tuesday in Paris, as I have not been able to find a rental available anywhere, and had to extend my stay for a couple days. I will report back on it, but right now I am seeing this as a great benefit.

With Plat i pay for the cheapest car and usually get a Premium car in return. So for example, i order a Ford Focus and get a Merc C Class or similar.

The best rental upgrade I've ever had was with sixt and platinum, rented a compact and received a BMW 745i, It was astounding upgrade and what a car. I have to say seats that actively hug you in corners and the night vision thing (not that useful I feel). However the program is excellent but it's hit and miss, I've often received no upgrade. and I don't rent the cheapest cars either, normally mid range. In europe sixt normally have better cars than other car rental agencies

I guess at NCE on Cote d´Azur they don´t want to stuck their parking lot with all those cheap mid-size cars and focus on luxury-class, not to frighten all those millionaires :-)

In London (city location), as a Sixt Platinum member I got upgraded from the VW Golf I had reserved to a Ford Mondeo. That was the only other automatic they had on the lot.

Is there any way to get com'p do Sixt Plat (or Gold ?). All I really have on the travel front is BA Gold and LHW Leaders Club (ordinary status) ....

I just know of SIXT status match for other rental company status holders and for Lufthansa FTs.

This might help, unfortunately, there does not seem to be an official way for BA G.

Visa Infinite card holder In France, I don't know for the others countries are entitled to get the PLATINUM CARD from SIXT.

Anyone knows if there is a way to get automatic upgrade to the DIAMOND CARD from SIXT ?
I don"t know what is the requirements? Because last years we make a LOTS of rentals and we never get upgrade to the Diamond...

(Un)fortunately, there does not seem to be any way to get into sixt's diamond league, even if you rent 300+ times with them.
Known ways to get into it are:

- get your personal invitation through Mrs. Regine Sixt
- be a Lufti HON Circle member
- call the 'BMW Exclusive' Amex Carbon Credit Card (better known as the 'CO2 Card';) ) your own
- AMEX Centurion/Titanium membership

There's also been an opportunity with 'LHW' LeadingHotelsoftheWorld, but this one has gone for good now...

Don't have an AMEX yet so this sounds interesting - BMW Premium Card Carbon. A BIG "NOT LIKE" in FB terms is paying 350 for a piece of plastic but I guess that is what makes it exclusive ... Now is it worth it is a topic for another discussion...

Well got myself signed up as Sixt Plat easily enough by puting my EK FF number in on the Sixt sign up page and (accidentally !) telling Sixt it was the top grade EK membership. That seemed pretty easy and I now show up as Sixt Plat :)

However, when I come to try and make a booking, the rate I get quoted with my new Plat membership is 25% higher than if I don't put in a number at all. What a nonsense !! :mad:

I'm Sixt Gold only, but quite frequently get an upgrade, maybe every second or third rental.

I just had a reservation for BMW 5 series and got a Mercedes S class.

As a Platinum customer, the price should be up to 15% cheaper than the public rate. Sixt recently changed the discounts on it's status cards, take a look at my recent thread "New discounts - Sixt Cards and Partner Cards". The new discounts may not have been in place, if you tried to make the booking prior to this recent change.

All of our customers are very important to us, especially our FFlyers. Just as important to us are BA FFlyers, although there is no formal Sixt/BA relationship I'll be more than happy to arrange either a Platinum or Gold card based on your airline status. This is true for all major airlines.

I see you managed to obtain the Platinum status through your EK FF, if you would like to send me a private message with your card number I'll double check that your card is set up correctly. If you still need to book the car I'll be happy to arrange a new quote for you if you would be kind enough to forward the details.

I found the same problem with pricing using plat card, Gary and his colleagues have fixed it and prices are now quite a bit lower

I am seeing the same thing: when I log in with my (brand new, courtesy of Gary and the Sixt UK team) Platinum card, I get a price of Euro 471.90 for an 8 day rental in France (Ford Mondeo, flexi pricing); when I log out, I can get the same car for E296.90.

NOTE: I sent a PM to Gary Coughlan, and my account is now showing a much better rate, consistent with the discounts advertised for Hyatt and SPG top level elites (15% or thereabouts). ^ to Sixt UK staffers for being so responsive; I just booked an 8 day rental in France because of their responsiveness.

I'm quite new at the rental car elite game, but I got both Hertz Gold and Sixt Plat. Which offer better benefits (if prices are comparable) in Europe, or in other words - where should I take my custom?

Depends on what class you usually rent. Hertz Gold is not worth much and Sixt Plat is pretty common, an both companies like to add "funny" charges, esp. at off-locations.
I would say, use Europecar.

And about 4 weeks ago I had a reservation for a Polo and got a Mini Convertible at FRA!
Last weekend I had a reservation for a Smart (at HAM), was offered a Mercedes A-Class or Ford Focus but finally went for the Smart Convertible.

Cool nice one.

Rented a BMW 7 Series in Malaga at the begining of June and was given a 7 Series. Fantastic car and got almost 900km out of a tank of diesel which is quite incredible for a car that must weight 2 tonnes..?? They only gave me the car with a quarter of a tank of fuel in it and after agreeing with them that I could bring it back like that they still billed me for filling it up. A quick call to the UK call centre got it sorted in 2 minutes though with no quibbles. Excellent service.

I rented a Ford Focus/Golf in Geneva a couple of weeks back and asked for a Bmw 1 Series if possible but was told there were none available was given a Mitsubishi Galant (big but so slow and gutless) instead. Went out to the carpark to collect it and obviously it was nestled in-between a good 6-8 Bmw 1 Series...

Where does one enter the FF details on the sign up page? :confused:

I only just realized that one needs to sign up first before getting the discounts. Qatar airways has a rate code for Gold members that gets 15% off + upgrade, but there's nowhere to enter a rate code on the Sixt website.

EDIT TO ADD: Ok, got it. Realized I needed to use the link posted earlier in the thread to sign up for Sixt Platinum.

another IC RA told me about half a year ago that he contacted the SIXT customer service and asked for SIXT platinum due to his IC status and succeeded.
It doesn´t seem to be an officially guaranteed thing.

After signing up for Sixt Platinum, I was getting a better than normal rate for a couple of days. Now the rate I get for the same rental, is the same as what I get when not logged in.

Have rented a Bmw 1 Series in Nice for a couple of weeks time so will see what my platinum upgrade gives me then.

I've rented BMW-1 from Sixt NCE twice, once I was given BMW-3 manual and other time MB C-class automatic, that's fine with me. Not really sure if I would really like to get a bigger car there, parking is tight all over Cote D Azure

FF - Flying Blue member (Plat now Gold), I rent at Sixt in Germany almost everytime i go there (3-4 / year) always pretty happy about the cars and rate.
I have the very "basic" Sixt card, since few years, simple and ok.

FB Platinum member i did at the time called (Sixt France, and Sixt Germany) to get the Sixt Platinum Card mentioned but seemed never to had any returns or always confusing about other Frequent Traveler Programs and specificities, and got also myself lost.
FB telling to contact Sixt, and the Sixt people i had not sure about/with the FB programm giving a Sixt Plat.

Likewise for discount rates on Amex (Platinum) or FB-Plat Codes w/Hertz for instance, it shows up more EXPENSIVE when i use the code than WITHOUT !! ;-)

I however give my AF FF Number at the registration at Sixt and Amex Plat etc. but rarely give me any kind of further perks.

I guess maybe someone would know better if AF/FB still gives useful perks, and whom i could ask / get the Sixt plat (or Gold) card ?

I just rented a car at Milan Central Station , this place is difficult to find! took us over an hour/the confirmation print out doesn't even have the local sixt phone #.

After I reached the counter, the rep said they did not have the car I booked (b200 benz) , so they gave us a Opel which i wasn't too happy. I was told the rate is the same and such, but I did not get a invoice with the total cost and when I check my SixT account online , my previous booking was all deleted and doesn't even have a record of my rental. Will my rental record show up later ? or the rep forgot to enter my membership #? I am currently on Platinum status.

P.S. I thought cars are usually guarantee, hertz always had the car I wanted, I called SixT couple days ago and confirm this, they said it will b200 too.

Resurrecting this from the dead as I may be renting from Sixt in the near future. I found a link through Google that listed both United 1K and SPG Plat status as qualifying for a Sixt Plat card, however the link then took me to the Sixt homepage after I put my membership #s in. Would either of these still work and if so, how can I go about getting the card? I signed up for a Gold card but from what I've read this won't do much for me. Maybe I can just upgrade this one? Thanks!
