I have one night to play in Melbourne and am using hotel points. I have the option of staying at the Crowne Plaza on Spencer St. or the Park Hyatt on Parliament Square. Would prefer to be in a central location for walking to enjoy music and dining. Any opinions?

Or I could also stay at the Holiday Inn on Flinders...

I've had very good stays at the Park Hyatt. Really nice rooms. It is a little bit of a walk to the nice restaurants and the downtown area compared to some of the other hotels. I've heard the Sofitel is very nice.

Crowne Plaza is on the corner Spencer St / Flinders and about 100m from Holiday Inn. These 2 are on the west side of the city centre on the while Hyatt is on the east. Flinders is closer to music and dining on southbank (http://www.southgate-melbourne.com.au/) & Crown Casino complex (http://www.crowncasino.com.au/). I would stay on Flinders St and walk across the river to Southbank.
Edit: other links for Southbank (http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.000ADC72-1284-1A5D-BC6180C476A90000/), another Southbank (http://www.melbourne.com.au/southban.htm) and Southbank restaurants (http://www.southbankrestaurants.com.au/)
