iDine/Rewards Network - problems with dividing the bill to 2 credit cards?

I know many people have suggested this tactic, but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with getting miles properly credited. I did this recently and seem to have received miles in one program, but not the other.

Before I call up RN, I was wondering if a restaurant can code the payments differently that would preclude one of my payments from being a qualified dine.

There should be no problem. You will need to send to them a copy of your credit card statuement with the applicable dine and they then should be able to credit you for the missing dine.

Have you verified that the restaurant actually participates in both airlines' programs?

It's been frequently discussed on this forum how a lot of restaurants participate only in some of the airlines' RN programs -- not in all of them.
