American Express Membership Rewards - UK Centurion gift card

Just had my first ever freebie from Amex, a $2000 US gift card for Judith Ripka.

That's handy, a US Dollar gift card for use only in the USA :rolleyes:

judith ripka does some amazing stuff, ive seen her work at Neiman Marcus. wish i got these gift cards hehe

Suppose I shouldn't be ungrateful, but surely they should give gifts that would be of use in the UK ( want a new HD tv ;) )

Still, got a friend going to the States next April for a long stay, just have to issue her with a card so she can pick something out in Frisco.

Got one today too. There are a few items on the website that are $2000. I wonder if these are available in the L.A store as I'm there for Christmas!

Me too. The letter says the voucher is from the shop not Amex. It can only be used on the 18K couture collection which, to be fair, seems to start at about $1600 and goes up to $6k or so. You have to pay sales tax separately.

I was quite surprised by this - looking for the catch. There is some really expensive stuff in that range but also some stuff for $2000 or less. Other half was very impresses. I wonder why this is happening - presumably they are hoping that some go in and buy the really expensive items to cross subsidise people like me who are not going to. Could it also be Amex have some stake - trying to encourage people to fly?

Let's hope they give out some to the IDC Cent - after 4 yrs with UK Cent and getting nothing I change and miss this - oh well maybe soon

Mrs Razflyer just picked up a very nice set of earrings for $1800 + tax in Miami's upscale Bal Harbor shops. The salesperson immediately accepted the gift card, without any snobbery.
