Google Maps and Google Earth has some nice high resolution overhead imagery of features in Sri Lanka.

For example, the relatively underappreciated Sigiriya Lion Mountain (http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=7.956626,80.759924&spn=0.004107,0.00795&z=18).

The Dambulla cave temple (http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=7.855666,80.649079&spn=0.008216,0.0159&z=17) area.

Temple of the Tooth (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=kandy,+sri+lanka&sll=7.833963,80.639992&sspn=0.131456,0.254402&ie=UTF8&ll=7.293389,80.641639&spn=0.004113,0.00795&t=h&z=18), Kandy.

The views of these sites are somewhat nondescript. You can hop over to Google Earth and enable Panoramio and Wikipedia layers to see narrative and on the ground photo details where available.
