Asiana Club - Beijing-Seoul-HKG in F

Just flew PEK-ICN and ICN-HKG within a few days. Both in new F on 747. Absolutely amazing (and price is not high). Wonderful meal, great wines, the best offer of any airline (e.g. Corton-Charlemagne, Charmes Chambertin, Smith-Haut Laffite). In ICN the F lounge is nice with excellent liquors ( even JW BLUE). In the one+ hour from Beijing they served a full lunch with excellent bi bim bap. Departing from ICN to HKG (only the morning flight has new seats on 74E, not daily. When the "old" 74E is used in the afternoon,they sell old F as business), they served a brunch which was indeed a full lunch. Service outstanding all around. OK the new F seat are below the new CX or SQ F suites, but not bad. Video is below par with only 9 movies (2 of them in Korean). But alltogether an amazing experience for the price. Will go the extra effort to fly OZ again.

Completely agree that OZ is putting a great deal of effort into building a reputation for superior F service.

And as you note, the seat lags slightly behind SQ, CX or even NH.

But I have to say that their pajamas more than make up for the seat. First time I've ever decided to take a pair of airline PJs home with me.

Thanks for the positive report on the ICN-HKG morning flight. I'm on this flight in F next April and am looking forward to it even more now, though I realize there could be an equipment change between now and then.

I suggest that you approach it as "lunch time" rather than breakfast. Anyway, you will have to wake up early to catch that flight, so you will be hungry/winethirsty by the time meal is served. You land in HKG around 1pm Seoul time. Too bad you wont get the bi bim bap, but the steak was great and the wines... I particularly enjoyed the cheese platter with six different fresh fruits (on two plates).
