Has anyone had any issues using these?

I just cashed in some US Bank credit card reward points for a $50 travel card that I intend to use at a Los Angeles hotel, preferably in the Hollywood Hills area and wanted to make sure there are no restrictions on it like there are for similar $50 off any airline ticket deal (which you must redeem for travel with a Saturday stay and use your US Bank visa to pay for the original travel, etc.)

thanks,

No restrictions on useage for these. You use them just like you're paying $50 in cash. The hotel will verify the amount on the card, usually at check-in. We used one in September without a problem.

I've used these cards lots of times with no problems, except sometimes it takes a while for the desk clerk to do the computer work. Advise you to notify the front desk on check-in that you want to use a travel card and give them some time to do what they have to do. I've even used cards with CDN$ balances in the US. Currency exchange rate was applied and worked fine. I recommend the monetary value cards over the number of room-nights card as there is too much variation and uncertainty asssociated with class of room/hotel where they can be used. I have both plastic and virtual cards purchased in the "buy a $50 card, get 500 Air Canada Aeroplan (or AAdvantage) miles" deal. Cards don't expire.

never had a problem using these. Can also be used for meals at Best Westerns with restaurants, even if you re not staying at the hotel. But the hotel must of course own and operate the restaurant. (Sometimes they are contracted out so best to enquire first).
