Las Vegas - Venetian charged for mini-bar items that weren't, in fact, consumed

Watch out if you're checking out of the V. I was charged for popcorn I didn't eat and friends I was traveling with were charged for beers they didn't drink. The mini bar sensors are not working properly. Appearently, if you even think about having in-room refreshments, they charge you. Bill first, ask questions later, seems to be the new V attitude.
It's too bad that a great property like this would stoop to nickel and diming paying guests.

Only time I've ever been charged in error on the minibar was when friends used the minibar to keep something cold which moved some of the refreshments causing the automated charges. As always, check your Guest Services screen on the TV daily. I saw the charges and called down and they removed them immediately.

If they removed the charges when you complained, I'm not sure you can call it a rip-off, just a hassle. But yes, it would be nice if there were just a regular fridge in addition to (or instead of) the mini-bar.

On request Venetian will provide a mini fridge in your suite. I've seen this happen for guests wanting to keep baby formula etc in a fridge. They've also provided humidifiers too.

I thought I was going to be inundated with "Hey, that did that to me too!" responses. I guess it was just a bad day.
RE: looking at the portfolio on the TV check out. It was "down for maintenence." I also did not get the usual fax to the room. My friends had a similar experience.
But, all in all, I had a great time. I love the V and the Grand Lux. I also saw Phantom and the Jersey Boys. Really was wonderful. I just felt it was strange to have these malfunctions at the same time.
Thanks for the replies.:)
