American Express Membership Rewards - Unsolicited offer to switch from personal backed to company guarantee?

So I was minding my own business slaving away the other day and AMEX called and gave us an unsolicited offer to switch our cards from backed by me (and my SSN) to the company. Being the suspicious type I immediately made sure it wasn't phishing (which I think it is not).

Now I am just wondering why they would they offer this unsolicited unless it was somehow benificial to them. They have called back a few times to follow up as well.

Any ideas? Sounds great, and a bit like our little company is moving up in the world. But just what is the AMEX motivation here? Any ideas?

Thanks.

The hope that you'll set up a corporate card account and get one for all your employees, resulting in more annual fees and per-charge revenue for them.

Their Corporate card division (which offered you the product) effectively competes with their small business cards.

The Corporate cards might be more profitable for AMEX. They often have fewer perks, slightly higher fees and slightly shorter grace periods.

But mostly, it is AMEX wanting you to have as many accounts with them as possible, AMEX wanting to maximize your charge volume with them, and AMEX wanting to maximize fees from you, and AMEX wanting to establish a stronger relationship with you.
