Hi there,
I am planning to fly PVG-NRT-LHR (the NRT-LHR will be in ANA F) I have 2 choices for the first sector which are ANA with the club ANA asia seats (business) or with Air china in F class.
I noticed that Air China operates a 763 on this route which according to seatguru and seatexpert is fitted out with the new long-haul F seat (62'' pitch and angled flat 170degrees).
First of all is this information correct? And second of all has anyone flown CA's new F product, and if so what do you have to say about the seat, meals, service etc.? And how does it compare to the overall club ANA asia product/experience?
Thanks

Air China is phasing out Boeing 762 fleet at the moment, while taking new deliveries of A330. There are still 2 B762ER left in the fleet, both were born in late 80's.
There are 7 B763 (3 are ER version) remain in the fleet (2 returned to leaser last year), produced from 1992 to 2000.
I have had 762/763 F class on international routes 2 years back, the seats were comfortable and food was much better than in CA domestic flights. I might be wrong, but I don't remember seeing any 763 having new seats - the new seats you are refering to only avaiable on CA B747s (not the 3 oldest ones) and A340s.
I would go for ANA Business class, they are much better product in my experience, comparing with old seats on CA 763s.
NH C is far better than CA F!

Which rendition of the 767s flies the CA975 PEK-SIN?
What should we expect of the Business class seats and service on this flight?
Thanks!

You will have one of those 763 on that route (they may change it to a brand new A330, you never know!), and old business class seats.
Service is typical CA standard.

I took this route back in August of 2008 - if it would help I'd be happy to post the menu (if I can still find it).
Service was pretty good and there were only three people in the C cabin (myself included), and no one in F.

Thank you, fellow FTers, for your responses.
Yes, it would be helpful if you could post the menu!
Since this is a red-eye, will the seats be comfortable enough to take a nap? Are the seats similar to US domestic F in comfort and seat pitch?

IIRC, the seats are about 50" pitch recliners somewhat similar to old US/UA C (though SeatGuru shows them as 42" pitch).

I used to fly this route a lot (4x per year) and the company often gave me the choice between CA biz and SQ eco. While I admit that SQ Y is terrible when you don't get an exit row, I always got them. Furthermore, leaving either city at 4p and getting to your destination by midnight is a pretty big perk when the alternative consists of: 1) red-eye; or 2) 737 via XMN.
In spite of the fact that I'm tall enough to loathe SQ's seat pitch, I still give them the nod over CA premium cabins (in which I've logged a lot of time).
