Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - GF (Gulf Air) Award Fare Codes

Does anyone know what the GF award fare codes are for F, J and Y...and more importantly, if there's an way to search for them on expertflyer?

Check on web site for redemption rules as follows:-


Economy (Y, H, K, M or L)
to Business Class

Business (J, C)
to First Class

# Only J, C, Y, H, K, M or L class tickets on Gulf Air are eligible for redemption upgrades.

So, if I book an L fare in economy can I automatically get an upgrade to business using my miles (assuming there is a free seat/s in J), or can they refuse?

I phoned GF and was told 'no redemptions until end of December', but I think the language barrier might have been a problem.

Anyone got any experience?

Handy hint - dummy bookings on Opodo (edit: & www.Kayak.co.uk also!) will show fare class, unlike GF's own site.

Would agree that rules indicate an L in Economy is allowable for upgrade to J.
Surprised that "no upgrades till end December" as Gulf have always said there are no black outs.
If their web site are offering J class on your flight date then you should get the upgrade.
Agree language can be a problem but email to their FF address should give clarification.
