It seems that the only 34x left on the LHR-HKG route is 256, departing 2050. While this would be more convenient for me than the 2210 departure (254), the suites are so much more comfortable that I'm willing to wait the extra 80 minutes, especially on an overnight flight. Anyone know if there are plans to change 256 to a 744 or 773 before mid-January?

No. They still don't have enough 77Ws to free the 74As from LAX and SFO by then. LAX will only be 77W 5x weekly until March 1st. So the remainder of the 23x weekly LAX/SFO will still operate with the 747s because it is the only range-capable aircraft those routes. In addition, 747s this winter will be deployed to two additional runs: CX271/270 & CX253/254. So there won't be enough of them to do additional runs as the 747s utilization will be stretched out.

And no there won't be enough 77W either as they will be busy operating JFK (3x daily), YYZ (1x daily), and LAX (5x weekly).

The 77Ws wont be going to LHR as far as I know.

Thanks for the info. All this talk about what equipment is going where made me wonder: How does CX see its future in terms of loads? So, FWIW, I compared the 74A and the 77W, F/J/Y seat allocations.

For the 74A, it's 9/46/324. Expressed in percentages, it's 2/12/86.

For the 77W (newer plane), it's 6/57/238, or, in percentages, 2/18/80.

Not terribly surprising, I suppose. CX sees its largest future growth to be in business at the expense of Y, and stability in the F market.

I think CX not really think about loading ... they think non-scheldued tech stop as 1st priority to be fixed
