Dear All,

Just wondered if you could help me, I am booked on a KLM Flight:
Man - YYZ, YYZ - NYC(on AC) and then finally JFK - Man with KLM, However I am unable to fly and the ticket is 100% non refundable but my agent has told me that I will be able to claim the tax back, does anyone know out of the £524 how much I will actually get. The agent told me the airline still keep some of it back which doesnt seem fair when you aren't flying and they can resell the seat again to cover the tax.

Cheers

Is your agent going to do a refund for you?

Generally when a ticket is 100% nonrefundable , it includes the taxes as well. The airline may take a fee for processing the refund, but again it depends if the ticket can be refunded. There is no set regulationg as to what can or cannot be done. The only way for you to know if you're getting anything back is to try to refund it.

With KLM most of it is the TAX (the fuel surcharge is also hidden in the tax). They will refund government taxes for a fee of ± 15 euro. Just call them and request for a tax refund. They have to do this. (european law)

I just cancelled a 'special offer' cheap seats ticket for a return to BKK from ABZ.

Taxes refunded no problem, and within 7 days! So go ahead and contact Reservations number on the back of your card and give them your booking code.

As my ticket was a 'yellow' on the online booking, I was pleasantly surprised to get a decent chunk of change returned.

good luck with it.
