Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Estimate Taxi Fare Fremantle CBD -> PER?

I'm amid trip planning. We have an overnight in the Perth area without rental car before departing PER at mid-morning. I'm wondering if we should go for a Freo hotel or just stay in Perth CBD where trhe hotels will no doubt have airport shuttles. Would taxi fare be ruinous? Thanks.

I would think it would be over $50. Someone else can fill in. What about the public transport that goes from freemantle->perth?

What about the public transport that goes from freemantle->perth? I know there's both train and ferry at reasonable fares, but for a family of 3 with luggage at breakfast time, I think we'll be springing for a taxi direct to PER. Over AU$50 doesn't sound awful; at over AU$100 I would think twice.

Ime that understimates the fare a little, closer to $60 would be more like it even tho it's a pretty straight run from Freo to the airport down Leach Hwy. You may be tempted to take the shuttle bus. Don't, it's slow, overpriced and under-serviced. Public transport to the international terminal is a disgrace in Perth. OP, you are going to the international terminal right?

Fare came out to be AUD51.10 using the fare calculator on http://www.swantaxis.com.au

I dont think taking the train to the CBD will work out much cheaper since taxi fare to airport from CBD is around AUD30.

Shuttle will only work for one passenger, taxi may work out cheaper if there are 2 or more.

OP, you are going to the international terminal right? Domestic terminal, actually -- catching a QF internal service which will depart around 1030a. And there will be three of us (plus longhaul luggage) so I don't think the shuttle is apt to cost out... AU$60 for a taxi is still within the range of the reasonable I think. Thanks!

So you're taking a taxi to the international terminal then the Qantas bus to the domestic? Good plan if the shuttle is free. A taxi to the domestic terminal would be a little more expensive as it's quite a bit further than the international if you're coming from Fremantle. It's something ridiculous like 9kms by road from the international termional to the domestic one in Perth. Whoever is responsible for that state of affairs needs flogging.

I don't see ANY reference from the OP to the international terminal. The first reference to the international terminal was by you.

I'm trying to help the OP, what are you trying to do? There is a shuttle bus for Qantas passengers that goes from the international terminal to the domestic one. I was just checking if that's what the OP means.

We're avoiding the international terminal as we leave Perth -- going directly to the domestic terminal to catch a Qantaslink service PER-AYQ-CNS. It does look like the domestic terminal is a little longer flog when approaching from the west.

I'm trying to help the OP, what are you trying to do? Throwing references in to international terminals is less than helpful. It was obvious to me he meant the shuttle bus from the city hotels or Freo hotels to the airport.

OK, my apologies if I confused you, was not my intention.
While in Fremantle you should definitely take the tour of the old Fremantle Prison. I hope you enjoy it, Freo is a gem! Much nicer than Perth.

Agreed - I enjoyed the Freo Prison tour, even down to the gallows. The historical insights were amazing. The only thing wrong about Fremantle is their football club (only slightly better than the WEGIRLS!) :D

Fremantle was nice. Prison was a great site. From there stop by the Victoria Markets and take a walk down to the Maritime museum and then for food/beer there's a nice brewery called Little Creatures I would recommend to stop by for a beer and a fresh baked pizza
