American Express Membership Rewards - Double MR points over the summer promo... question

I was enrolled in a promo over the summer that earned double MR points for all purchases over $2K per month. Anyone else have this?

My real question is, was there a cap for how many you could earn? I spent about $13K in August, but only saw 5K credit to my account and was wondering if I missed some fine print....

The offer I received had "Total bonus points earned each calendar month are subject to maximum monthly limit of 5,000 points" in the T&C.
