TWA will stop flying at Kennedy airport Oct. 7, as American speeds up the closing of TWA's terminal 5 at the New York airport.
The closing, originally scheduled for December, now will occur in mid-October.
Also, American abandoned its original plan to move subsidiary TWA's operations to American's facilities at the airport and continue some of the TWA flights.
Instead, the 1,100 TWA employees will be let go as part of American's elimination of 20,000 jobs.
American decided it no longer can afford to have American and TWA fly duplicate routes out of the airport.
