Travel Technology - HELP: Firefox question for any techies around
Ok long story short, firefox 3.0 uses places.sqlite to store bookmarks. My HD just died on friday and won't boot or load win XP. I booted from another cd and now have access to my data that i'm backing up to my external HD, but i can't load any programs to export my bookmarks into another format. If i copy the places.sqlite file to my backup, is there a way to read from the file?
thanks a billion!

A long shot, but try this:
create a new profile from firefox on the new box..
then copy the profiles from:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
(sub directories)
In the new system (similar path)
Hope it works.

...and then, install Foxmarks as a plugin on your new machine's FireFox install, so your bookmarks are backed up online for free and you won't have this problem in the future.
If above fails, you might want to look into this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5817
thanks for the tips :)
