I think she would be better off with something with a full keyboard. Suretype takes some getting used too, though it works well.

She would still need a data plan. Plus, most operators will give you the newest generation Blackberry for free when you signup or renew your contract.
This one is also pretty old, the current Pearl is much smaller.

Yea I will need the tmo $20/month plan, but it looks like the pearl is still $100 with a renewal. I'm waiting for the bold to come out for myself.
