Greetings Everyone,
I dont know how to put this but I'l try so here it goes.
I bought a ticket on cx the routing was dxb-hkg-cgk-hkg-jfk-hkg-bom-dxb in C class. I used all the sectors of this ticket except hkg-bom-dxb. I bought a fresh ticket (hkg-cgk-dxb on SQ)and kept my cx ticket for future use. While i was in dxb i bought another ticket dxb-hkg-dxb in D class. I used my dxb-hkg sector and kept the return on a much later date since i wasn't getting a seat to come back to dxb with the D class booking on this ticket so i used my previous ticket which was a C class ticket and changed the routing from hkg-bom-dxb to hkg-dxb nonstop. Now when I logged on to my MPC account the booking for hkg-bom and bom-dxb is still showing as unused and valid. I called Mpc up and they told me that the ticket is still valid????????????????????????????
Any ideas on whats going on?
All your valueable views appreciated

Sounds like whoever changed your ticket, just changed the res but the ticket needs to be reissued and revalidated which is still not done. Or that the change was never done otherwise it will show up in your MPC account under itineraries.

Reason for this is that changing frm one class code to another ie D to C usually incurs a charge and CX cannot do the official change until it has your ok to do so ie to recalculate any fare difference.

You really need to GO to a CX office or ticket counter before you fly in case your ticket cannot be changed.

I feel that the agent making the change might be confused about your two tickets with unused segments - HKG-DXB in D and HKG-BOM-DXB in C. As Guy Betsy said, you should go to a ticketing counter or office to get that resolved.

This is yet another situation where e-ticketing is a retrograde step. This sort of thing wouldn't happen with physical ticket coupons.

I think you guys didn't get the what i was trying to explain. My C class booking has been used already. My D class is still valid for travel next month. What i cant understand is that my previous C class booking which was initially hkg-bom then bom-dxb is still showing up on my mpc page(how can the ticket which i have travelled on and used up still show) and when i spoke to mpc they said that the ticket with this reference number is still valid so i made another booking. Do you guys think they will find out at a later stage when they are auditing.

how about the other ticket - have you checked whether your D class ticket is indeed unused ? the booking might still show up but underlying the booking might be no ticket # ? have you checked this as well ?

when you did the C class re-routing from HKG-BOM-DXB to HKG-DXB direct, were you charged any re-routing fee ? or your ticket doesn't require any re-routing fee ?

My D class ticket is valid and no they did not charge me anything because changes were permitted on that ticket.

So the agent reissued a new HKG-DXB eticket qnd forgot to cancel the original eticket via BOM. If that took place a long time qgo (say two weeks) you should have no problem reusing it. But a monthly (or weekly) accounting reconciliation check by CX could spot it.

It happened 3 weeks ago and i was scheduled to fly day before yesterday on my hkg-bom sector and they sent me an online check in email notification. So i called them and changed the dates on that ticket.
Although i would not want to travel on that ticket but would like to know if it could be possible if i checked in online and just showed up.

Honestly with all your explanations I still have no idea what you are talking about . What ticket where which who what?

So your best bet is to go to a CX office or counter and sort it out. Unless you spell out specifically what ticket(s) you have, how it was issued, what the destinations are, then maybe, we might be able to offer suggestions. But as it is, please please just go to CX and let them deal with it.

if I understand it right...it's a problem that the OP would NOT want CX to find out and so wouldn't want to alert CX about it. it's about the C-class ticket (HKG-BOM-DXB) being used already and yet still shown up in the system as unused...and the question is whether there's a chance he/she could use this ticket coupon AGAIN...

This is how I understand it too.

If I was the OP, I would just call up CX with the ticket number for both tickets and ask which sector/coupon of each of the tickets are still open for use. That should clear things up. If it turns out the C class ticket is still unused, then use it quickly!

USED e-ticket coupons do not show up on MPC or anywhere we can access reservation itineraries. Sounds more like the res is still active alongside the original reservations.

Of course the OP cannot use the same coupon again once it has been flown. Again e-ticket coupon once USED, will show up as USED on airline CRS' systems. E ticket info is different from res info.

The system may not be as robust as we expect. I have an multi-segment e-ticket last year. Half-way into the trip, I lost one segment. It did not show up in my MPC account. While I called MPC, the agent said that my TA cancelled one segment. I was already half-way into my trip - how would that happen:confused:?? I was very sure the system had a problem. The MPC agent added my segment back on.

If that can happen, the reverse (segment taken being still valid) can potentially happen.

Thats exactly what I was trying to explain.
I called up cx and they confirmed that the ticket is valid and open to use.
So i have a hkg-bom-dxb trip free plus the miles.
Im still contemplating weather to use it or not?
But once again thank you everyone for posting your valuable comments.

cheers

Although i would not want to travel on that ticket but would like to know if it could be possible if i checked in online and just showed up.

In my opinion if you do the online check in and it works, you've just won yourself a free flight. When a CX check in agent sees that OLCI is done and verified, (i.e. you see ur boarding pass when you do the OLCI) that's a green light for them to go ahead. Now with the new system, you cannot do OLCI if there is any discripency (even if your ticket is allowed a date change at a fee, and you havent paid the fee, u cant do the OLCI).

So therefore if you want to enjoy your freebie, do the OLCI and if your good, then enjoy your flight....i dont forsee any problem coming your way unless a CX ticketing agent is reading this forum and this post.

Let me know how it turns out......
