Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Paper tix: why no OLCI?

Back in June, I travelled on CX from BNE-HKG on to SVO (latter segment operated by Aeroflot). I was issued a paper tix by CX's BNE ticket office.

In the past, I used to be able to use OLCI 48 hours in advance (even on paper tix), but not on that occasion. I appreciate that I cannot use OLCI feature on the SU codeshare, but I was disappointed not to be able to do OLCI on the CX segments. When I rang to query, CX's staff told me that paper tix did not allow OLCI.

Q1: why is CX still issuing paper tix?
Q2: why is OLCI not possible on paper tix (when in the past, it was no problem).

On your questions:
1: When did you buy the tickets? CX should have stopped issuing paper tickets three months ago.
2: I don't know why they removed a feature that has been working perfectly well for so long. I like to know the answer myself.

Some interline tickets still need to be issued with paper tickets... I know CX/TK and CX/SU still can't interline with e-tickets yet.. there are other combinations out there I'm sure that still need paper tickets.. the whole world going e-ticket thing is still a work in progress...

I see. It is unfortunate that CX does not allow OLCI for paper tickets anymore.

I usually purchase my tickets five days before departure.

As for why still paper tickets? The CX agent I talked to stated that airlines could still issue paper tickets, but 3rd party resellers could not.

Strangely ebough, SU has full e-tix capability via their website. THough not for code-shares, AFAIK.
