Scheduled on JAL 01 out of SFO through NRT to BKK...in biz (this JAL's new biz class product).

For $150 we can change to Cathay's lie-flat biz class product and go DEN-LAX-HKG-BKK. Regrettably they don't have the brad new flat-bed on LAX-HKG yet!

Any thoughts on the better seats?? Better service??
If we go Cathay it cuts out a connection which would be nice but more intersted in the better service!

Thanks!

It's a subjective call. The new JL seats blow away the old CX seats. But on service, I think CX wins, but not by a landslide.

If it were me, I would take CX for this itinerary, although I don't think that there is any material difference in the two seats between CX old J and JL new J (which is hardly different than their old J, the biggest difference being the VOD and larger TV screen). On service, both are excellent, but I too would give a the edge to CX.

To me the biggest difference will be the connection and connecting flight. I would much prefer to connect at HKG over NRT, and CX J lounges are nicer than even the brand new JL lounge at NRT (which continues with the piped in Muzak which I find so annoying). Moreover, CX regional J is better than JL regional J, and you will be sitting in it longer if you fly to BKK from NRT than from HKG.
