Qantas Frequent Flyer - the name 'Qantas Frequent Flyer'

It got me thinking after scrolling through all the forum names - that the only boring one (to me anyway) was the Qantas one: 'Qantas frequent flyer' (Mileage clubs come a close 2nd!)
Other airlines have come up with interesting names for their programs. I especially like Flying Club, Flying dutchman and Krisflyer
It got me thinking: Is there a reason for this? Was Qantas the first to introduce such a program and thus has naming rights for 'frequent flyer'? Or is it just that it hasn't ever bothered to come up with a 'cool' name :)

No, Ansett's used to be Ansett Frequent Flyer, perhaps they were just both very unimaginative??

Looking through some of those old newsletters, I had forgotten than once upon a time BA and CX were AN FF partners - before OW and *A... Absolutely! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
At one stage, BA had a paid lounge program - which partnered with both TN Flight Deck and AN Golden Wing. I bought it as a cheap and easy way to access lounges no matter which airline I was flying with.

how 'bout 'Qantas Roo Points'.
Have to say though that Qantas Frequent Flyer programme is about as good as you're going to get in terms of naming things for what they actually are/do (causes no confusion to even the lowest common denominator).
'BA Executive Club' or 'Kris Flyer' (example only) give no indication about what they actually do or offer.
cheers

Answer is simple .... Go your own way (sorry I couldn't resist either)
Back on topic ... Gulf Air has an equally (read identically) boring name for their mileage program ... check here (http://www.gulfair.com/frequentflyer/miles/miles.asp)..

Surely that gives rise to complaints...
"You'll ROO the day you started flying Qantas..."

Changed from Gulf Air's Falcon FFP under ex-AN wannabe rescue syndicate CEO, James Hogan.

Me too. Golden Wing entitled you to a blocked seat next to you or an upgrade every time you flew, if space available. Even on cheap tickets. Those were the days...

All this talk of AN is very sad, especially for those who had considerable losses, but one mustn't pick at old wounds!
Back on topic, having seen the tags that SK issues to their high level FFs, the old (current model) QF tags look very - last century. They (the QF tags) could be smaller, more subtle and just as informative without the "look at me, look at me" feeling they impose. Time for a change - please.
