Just out of curiosity: I was flying out of my homebase NUE (Nuremberg, Germany) on monday. NUE is a small regional airport, and I was surprised to see a Air New Zealand 777 parked among the BAe Avros, CRJ and Dash-8 that normally fly out of here. (Plus NZ does not fly to germany at all).

Anybody got an idea about the reason for this unusual visit?

Cheers

The 777 is currently operating AKL-LAX-LHR-LAX-AKL and only has a few hours in LHR.

I assume LHR is not closed (nothing on BA forum) so must be diversion related to the specific flight - either pax, crew or a/c related.

It was a charter flight NZ1982 CHC-YVR-NUE. It then returned NUE-YVR-AKL as NZ6083, which suggests it came home empty (6000 flight numbers are normally repositioning flights).

I have no idea who or what the charter was for.

If the reg had KA in it, it would have been ZK-OKA
