Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Booking the MH codeshare HKG-PEN

Hi,

I'm looking at getting from HKG to PEN in J. The CX flight is expensive. I can get MH via KUL for about 40% of the price on a D class fare. Does anyone know if it's possible to work the system so you get on the MH codeshare at the cheaper fare?

I don't think there is any CX/MH codeshare on KUL-PEN. Anyway, if it does, the fare is likely higher than the MH fare. Unless there is a good reason, there is probably not worthwhile going for a codeshare. In fact, if you can take the direct HKG-PEN flight, the flying time is so short that there may not be a big difference between J and Y.

I agree with cxfan1960 that the PEN-KUL-HKG-PEN routing is very short. I believe that you sit on the ground longer in KUL that you spend flying the rest of the route on some days, based on my experiences.

In any case, the plane is rarely full in J, and the few times I have walked around it, the Y section is a real ghost town. I can't imagine why CX keeps this route in the air, although I was certainly glad to have it for the years when PEN was a regular stop for me.
