Hilton HHonors - Getting "stays" when booking at two properties at once?

1.) I, for some reason I can't remember now, prepaid for an upcoming stay at a Doubletree. Stay is from Sept. 13-16.

2.) Because of the rolling tier thing, I'm actually on the cusp on Diamond - I need two more stays by the end of this month to make Diamond status.

So, I figure - I can't get out of paying for the unchangable prepaid DT stay, but I'd be willing to run across the street to the nearby ES property and stay my first night there to get the last remaining "stay" and nail down Diamond for the year. I call HHonors about this, and they go... "Oh. Yeah. Oh. No. You can't do that. The system will see you checked into two places on the same night, and toss one out, only giving you one "stay" credit."

Drat. Confounded!

So, if 'The System' catches doubled stays on the first night, does anyone know if they check on the WHOLE date range? Can I book a stay on the LAST night (15th) and not have it conflict? I mean, I AM going to leave the DT and check into the ES, forfeiting my last night's charges, I just want to make sure I'm credited for my stay...

Anyone ever do this successfully?

And, someone remind me: Why am I trying to get Diamond again? What's the benefit here again? :)

why don't you just check in @ your last day for another night @ the other property and then 'do a self check-out' next morning ...
I have seen them give multiple credit, but sometimes the system behaves strangely.

I had a room booked (prepaid) - plans were changed and I ended up staying elsewhere and paying for 2 rooms for the night.
End result was that I was not given credit for the 2 rooms as the system would not allow it.

I was in the same situation as the OP back in July - had a 5-night stay Sun-Fri of one week, with a separate 1 night stay (about 1500 miles away) Tuesday night of that week. I too was trying to qualify for Diamond so every stay was important

The 1 night stay posted first, and the 5 night stay never did. Called HH and was told that the 5 night stay could not be posted to my account as I couldn't have been in both places at once - no matter that I physically checked in at both properties. I explained that I needed to go to another site for one night but wanted to leave all of my belongings in the 5-night room, but they didn't seem to care. Called a couple of times and never could get anyone to post it. Irritating, but I did ultimately make Diamond by breaking up a long stay into a couple shorter stays in August.

There is a long thread on this here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123759).

My experience, also. But the problem would be if the stay did not post automatically and getting the DD to manually post the stays.

I was able to get 2 stays to post on the same night. It did not happen automatically. I called the DD, which was a waste of time. I then e-mailed diamond@hilton.com and explained why this had happened. I was promptly given stay/night credit and points.

Why not check in to the ES the day you leave the doubletree ?

Perhaps not ideal but it is a gtd stay credit.

That's the safest way, and an excellent suggestion.

My husband and I have a spousal account (no longer offered), so are allowed 2 stays per night. Whenever we are staying in separate properties on the same night, I always have to contact Hilton to get the second stay posted.

My experience, also. But the problem would be if the stay did not post automatically and getting the DD to manually post the stays. Depeneds. If you book a homewood suites or ES, for a month. You could then book a room somewhere else for one night. They understand it is cheaper and easier not to check out.
