Starwood Preferred Guest - Anyone else getting the key jackets for hotel use?

For the fourth time, I've received my Platinum Key jacket tucked into a white jacket that clearly has a field for notes and reads "discard after use"...

I'm assuming this white jacket is for the desk staff use? It has had everything from my room #, to rate to stay dates to club lounge hours written in the notes field.

Nope, I've never encountered that but on a related and perhaps equally nitpicky topic, I seem to be receiving a lot of purple key jackets (non-status) rather than Platinum ones. I would have chalked it up to them being out of Platinum jackets, but on a recent stay, I noticed a whole pile of Platinum jackets on the check in desk. I did mention it on my last stay and the clerk quickly corrected her error, but I don't usually say anything for fear of appearing like a complete tool. I have to say it does bug me though. Little touches like the plat jacket make a big difference to me.

I got given one of the "hotel use only" sleeves a few weeks ago in Mexico City.

Strange thing was that the lady checking me in only filled it out when I was there, and then handed it to me (I'm presuming they are more for use when the cards are prepared in advance, with the notes being for the staff).

I put it down to either inexperience and/or language issues.

I get these pretty much every time at hotels in Indonesia.

At a NYC-area hotel I was given a gold sleeve when, in fact, I'm non-status. I smell conspiracy. Do you think we could convince Michael Moore to investigate?

The front desk has been discarding those correctly before giving me my key jacket on recent stays.

As a bit of an aside though, did they always have these hotel use only jackets? In my mind, they popped up when the new smaller key jackets started being used. Seems a bit wasteful, really.

i get the opposite scenario often. a regular non-status sleeve when i'm really gold. hmmm, i think a michael moore investigation is definitely needed ;)

as for the OT - nope, i've never gotten the "hotel use only" sleeve. i have seen some other folks get a white sleeve tho and always wondered what the heck that was. now i know!

Not that I am a green-freak, but I really hate the waste of paper. I know that FD staff are not supposed to speak out with the room number, and write it down on something, but I have a collection of the key jackets.

However, they make great bookmarks, since you can tuck them over the top of the pages and they do not fall out easily! ^
