I will probably still volunteer in a crew capacity for next years Seattle event, but being that I am a Flyertalker.. I thought it would be appropriate to actually travel to next year's 3-Day event... and I need help deciding which city.
These are the ones I'd consider.. please vote for your top 2 choices, and help me decide!
2009 Breast Cancer 3-Day Schedule
Boston July 24-26
Chicago August 7-9
Twin Cities August 21-23
Denver August 28-30
Washington, DC September 11-13
Seattle October 2-4
San Francisco Bay Area October 9-11
Atlanta October 23-25
San Diego November 20-22

Actually I haven't ever spent time in Boston. Passed through it a couple times.

FWIW, I tried to keep the weather in mind when I cast my vote. Based on the current weather, I thought:
Boston July 24-26 Potentially too hot/oppressive
Chicago August 7-9 Potentially too hot/oppressive
Washington, DC September 11-13 Potential hurricane season - like now
Denver August 28-30 Thin air - possible problem
That left me with the following choices:
Twin Cities August 21-23
Seattle October 2-4
San Francisco Bay Area October 9-11
Atlanta October 23-25
San Diego November 20-22
So, I went with two of those ;)
This is an honorable undertaking ^. Good luck with it and I look forward to finding out where you'll be going!

Ack... you're right! I guess it will be up to the voters to decide whether SeaDoo XI will happen ;)

I had the same thoughts as you about those first 4... but those locations would be really fun..so I sucked it up and put them on the list

Sucking it up, of course, becomes even more difficult where the air is thin.

San Francisco has a commanding lead so far.... but we don't have a lot of votes in yet!

When I did the walk back in 2002 I choose the locale based on the "nicest walk w/the most scenic views". Back then I was told that the San Diego route was by far the most scenic.
Due to the San Diego date that year (early April) sadly that conflicted with my need to get mucho training time in.
After San Diego I was told Seattle was pretty nice as was the LA walk (Santa Barbara to Malibu).
I ended up doing the LA walk and was very happy with my choice as the walk was along the CA coast. and it was in Oct which gave me plenty of time to get ready.
I always assumed the San Fran walk would be a top pick, but rumor has it that it usually is quite hot that weekend and it's kind of dull until of course the end when you hit the city.
Good luck on the walk and for next year, fyi crewing is a blast ^
NOTE: Oh I see the y moved the SF walk to Oct (used to be in July) which should definately have better weather...still I'd say no unless I heard they changed the route to something more scenic.

The Seattle route is definitely different than last years.

Pretty safe to have nice weather in the Bay Area that time of year, as the rainy season doesn't kick in until around November 1. Depending on routing you could hit morning fog on the coast and 60 degrees, and end up with 100 if you head over the East Bay hills or up into the Napa or Sonoma Valley. Ideal situation for layering. :)

No walks in ANC?
How about a write-in:p
*And I did vote for ORD/MDW... but prior to being informed about SEA DOO (Probably will be in the midwest the week before)... so can I change that vote:D

afaik, the specific routes DO change each year but in the past they mostly stuck to the same general locale,
things may have changed but you'll have a chance to meet lots of folks who have probably done several different walks while on your weekend.
have some fun & do some recon ;)

100 degrees in October? Please don't tell me that. Its better that I not know ahead of time ;)

I would totally believe high 80s to low 90s inland (east bay) for early October.
I would opt for SD apparently last year the route was all coastal.
I'll ask Cory what this year's SF route was like, she did it last weekend.

SFO, of course! You can stay in the Bay on Alameda in our guest room!!! Meals at your request. Jack's a masseur! :p
ATL. I haven't been to my Alma Mater, Emory in decades. Great incentive!!!

Battle 3-Day 2009 looks like its going to have No Cal and So Cal going head to head. I suppose I could just do both .. but dang thats a lot of fundraising!
Since Chicago only has 1 vote.. I think Bob W can breathe easy about SeaDoo XI ;)

Well, you would be here during Fleet Week which runs Oct 9-14 in 2008 (hopefully the dates will be close in 2009). Here's the web site (http://www.military.com/fleetweek)with list of events you can attend after the Walk. There's even a parade in North Beach that weekend.

I voted for San Fran & San Diego. Love both cities. San Fran doesn't get too hot or too cold. San Diego is just a nice place to be.
Kudos for doing the 3-Day Walk! I'm sure you'll have a great experience regardless of which city you choose!

I just heard from one of my WHH homies that did SFO. Remember Cory? She said she had a good time, but I'm sure you can get the whole 411 from her if you want.
No blisters, my idea of heaven.
I'll be glad to train with you - 18/15/17 miles, no big wig. I'm just not up for the whole experience again. Then again, ask me next Monday, things might have changed.

Congrats Missy on undertaking this challenge; I wish you a good walk and no blisters to you and your sister tatas! *applause*

If I was insane enough to do this again, I'm not sure I would pick the weekend before the Seattle Marathon and Thanksgiving for travel headaches alone.
So, I would pick San Francisco even if it does overshadow the BULB SALE.
I am also thinking now that it would be preferable for me to do an early one and recapture my summer, you know what I mean? Because those weekends of 18/15 17/13 back to backs sucked the life force out of my ability to weed and drink copiously.

Had a group of friends do San Diego last year and they loved it so I voted for that.
It's a great event, much luck where ever you pick.
The other advantage is it gives you more time to fundraise.

I'll be making my final location decision and signing up on Friday.
