This is a long story and I need some help from you all smart people..

I redeemed a asiamiles ticket from HK to Jap last year at around Dec but due to some reason I cancelled the ticket and I ended up having a open ticket.

I never redeem anything from asiamiles before so I got no idea I can reissue the ticket to another person or another route until yesterday.

They told me since the ticket is valid for 1 yr i need to complete my trip before Dec 20 this year. and I got 30000 pt to spend.

I will be travelling to Hk at Oct but too bad I paid for my ticket before I uncover I can change the route for asiamiles ticket.. so this is not an option.

I want to know .. can I cancel the ticket and get the pts back?? or any way to extend the asiamiles ticket validaty? so I can use it next year instead?

or any other smart ways to work things around??

Welcome to FT.

While i'm not the best resource on AsiaMiles, abscent any other responses so far, I'd recommend you look at the t&c of Asia Miles (http://www.asiamiles.com/en/site/terms/1,,117609,00.html#25)- specifically the fees page for different transactions you may be considered.

Hope this is a good start, and other more knowledgeable FTers can help.

You cannot get your Asiamiles back once the award ticket has been issued. You have 12 months from the date of issue to use it, but it has to be used on the same airline (so probably CX or JL in your case).

If it's on CX I believe you could also reissue it (for a fee - US$40 now I think) in a different name, as well as on a different route.

you can extend a millege ticket for an extra month (i.e. 12 months is your valid allowance and you can extend for a further one month for a fee of US$30.00

That's the most you can do with your ticket otherwise you will either have to use, or let it go.

thanks for all your valuable input.

ok seems i only can use the ticket or waste it..

I managed to extend my holiday for a few more days and my next challenge is to call through the Asiamiles hotline and hope someone will pick up the phone today!

remember they have extremely disgracefully, suddenly, and secretly, raised almost all their fees by 50%-200%+...so this one month extension is actually USD 50 now.

another option is to re-issue your redemption ticket to be an upgrade, and use on your flights to/from HKG based on your paid ticket...(assuming it's the same airline I think, and that airline is eligible for upgrade awards).
