Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Possible to rent at SAN and drop off at LAX without a drop charge?

Title says it all. The cities are so close I am hoping that there is some company (local CA?) that won't charge a $60+ drop charge. Anyone know of one?

I have never been charged extra for a 1-way by any of the majors.

Budget can be as low as ~$40 ai.

It seems the rates are just higher though (but without a technical drop charge).

i.e. Budget wants $416 for a one week on a compact where Fox (incl a $60 drop charge) is $217 for the week. I guess the answer is to get the budget (not Budget ;-) ) rates and pay the drop charge.

I just ran numbers for National for one week and got $290 base rate on a Mid Size, no drop fee...$354 includes tax. But price will depend on when you are going so since I don't know when exactly you are going...this is best I can search for you. Most times there is Not a drop fee for National. Exception is for foreign travelers booking inclusive vouchers....those one way rates have drop fees.

Thanks, it's picking up on Sept 24 in SAN, dropping in LAX on the 30th.

It seems though, that all the majors are priced so high above Fox that even without a drop charge they will be at least $100 more for the week unless there's a good weekly rental code out there for one of them. I'd love to do Hertz as I need one more rental on my corp account for a free day but they are over $400 for this same rental and that's for a compact vs. a nice compact SUV (27MPG ;-) ) at Fox.
