Air New Zealand Air Points - transpacific business award availability

I am looking at getting a star alliance award from Brisbane to the US next year and would like to travel J with NZ - having had great experiences in the past .

Looking at dates in the ANA award reservation site,there seem to be very few J seats available for points ( and they would be United Miles) even 330 days out.

Is this usual - ie not many seats released or do they turn up closer to the time . I imagine that AKL- USA is one of their prime routes so they would not give away too many free ones.

Yeah have to be lucky. Look early, or close to departure. Better chances mid week, off peak season, 747 a/c, or just when new flights get added into the system.

I seriously doubt the seats you can see on the ANA site will be available for United's mileage plus members thanks to Starnet filtering.
