I will fly first time on OZ. Beijing-ICN OZ334 on sat sep 26 (747) and ICN-HKG OZ721 on sat Oct 4 (74E). My TA says that all 5 747/74E have been retrofitted with new seats. Is that true?

DownUnderFlyer Sep 9, 08, 6:07 pm There is only one 747 left which is not fitted with the new seats which is mostly used for the HKG run. YMMV. Rambuster Sep 9, 08, 6:13 pm There is only one 747 left which is not fitted with the new seats which is mostly used for the HKG run. YMMV. Seat Lottery ! ;) Avoid the old seats like the plague ! rts123 Sep 9, 08, 9:26 pm Does anyone know when the remaining one will get the new seats? I'm flying JFK-ICN on a *A F award in April and would hate to be stuck with the old seats. (I'm continuing on to HKG from ICN, but that's a much shorter flight, so I'm not as concerned.) DownUnderFlyer Sep 10, 08, 6:33 am I think (but I don't know) that there is no plan to convert the last one as it is not used for any long flights. So no risk for JFK-ICN IMHO. Bobbybrown or others might have more information. LAX Sep 10, 08, 9:02 pm There is only one 747 left which is not fitted with the new seats which is mostly used for the HKG run. YMMV. Does this aircraft make daily runs to HKG or only on certain days of the week? Bobbybrown or others might have more information. I think someone mentioned before the last one with the old seats are NOT going to be change to new seats, instead it is going to convert to a freighter, which will leave only 2 744 and 2 74M left in the fleet. All 4 of the 744 are having new seats already. stupidhead Sep 14, 08, 7:50 pm I thought they were going to get rid of their 747's. Kind of pointless to convert them I think. Shouldn't the 777ERs be a priority since they're planning to actually keep those? JFK-ICN in may had the new configuration 747. On a complete tangent, about when do you think we'll see those 30 A350s that Asiana ordered? bobbybrown Sep 16, 08, 1:39 pm Thanks for referring me, but my information is not definitely right: I'm just gathering all other news/blogs into here. Anyway, Asiana's the only old 747combi is to be gone later this year (according to a 3-year-old news article, but correct up to now.) ARLVACP Sep 19, 08, 2:18 am Warning: I flew JFK-ICN-HHG in first this past week - OLD STYLE SEATS - no power port - both legs. I called in advance to check on this and was assured that the new style would be used on these flights. It was not until I boarded the plane that I realized that it was the old-style configuration on the 747. All I was told (by JFK station mgr on duty) was that there was an equipment change and that they were very sorry. Very unhappy with the entire Asiana experience. Will not fly them again. davidhma Sep 19, 08, 10:35 am Thanks for referring me, but my information is not definitely right: I'm just gathering all other news/blogs into here. Do we know if 747 combi have all been reconfigured except the one mentioned? bobbybrown Sep 19, 08, 12:34 pm How could they fit 36 lie flat seats on their upper deck 747? Do we know if 747 combi have all been reconfigured except the one mentioned? Refurbished 2 747 combi's have 24 lie-flat C seats in upper deck while un-refurbished one has 32 C seats at the same space. Also 2 combi's were refurbished with new F/C and AVOD/power plugs for all classes. 2 747 refurbished full-pax versions, HL7418/28: 10F/45C/304Y 2 747 refurbished combis, HL7421/23: 10F/24C/230Y 1 747 old combi: 12F/32C/236Y (not sure) davidhma Sep 19, 08, 1:17 pm Refurbished 2 747 combi's have 24 lie-flat C seats in upper deck while un-refurbished one has 32 C seats at the same space. Where did you get this information? bobbybrown Sep 19, 08, 3:05 pm Where did you get this information? Available at Asiana webpages: http://us.flyasiana.com/Global/US/en/homepage?fid=ABOUT11400 Older one's information is what was on my head :) davidhma Sep 19, 08, 7:52 pm Available at Asiana webpages: http://us.flyasiana.com/Global/US/en/homepage?fid=ABOUT11400 Older one's information is what was on my head :) Thanks. But it doesn't say if the seats on combi are new seats or not. :( macabus Sep 19, 08, 8:06 pm Available at Asiana webpages: http://us.flyasiana.com/Global/US/en/homepage?fid=ABOUT11400 Older one's information is what was on my head :) I'm flying LAX-ICN-LAX next week.
