Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Two lounge questions about YYZ and HKG

Hey Folks,

I know both of these are probably incredibly simple questions, but search is simply not helping me. I've tried typing in all kinds of phrases, but it's not giving me what I need, and a lot of the information is old.

I'm planning on flying YYZ to HKG in F on CX, so my first question is whether or not CX still uses the BA lounge at YYZ? I saw a post from a few years ago saying that they do, but I don't know if that has changed.

Second, and I'm sure this is about as basic of a question as possible, but if flying YYZ to HKG in F and continuing on CX in J within Asia (because a lot of the flights only have two cabins) on the same day, could I still get F lounge access at HKG or only J access?

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it!:)

To the second question, if you hold a single First ticket for the whole journey and are sitting in J for the intra-asia just because there is no F (i.e. the ticket coupon says "F" (or A) then your chances are good. If the intra-Asia is on a separate J ticket then your chances are less good, but still non-zero. I believe it depends to some extent on your ability to charm your way past the gatekeeper at The Wing/Pier.

Thanks christep!^ To clarify I'd be on an award ticket the whole way through, in F from YYZ to HKG and continuing in J on a flight that has no F cabin. So you're saying that technically I'm not allowed access, but with a bit of charm it'd be possible?

Really appreciate it, thanks again!

Is it booked as a single F award YYZ-Asia, or as two awards, an F award for YYZ-HKG and a J award for HKG-Asia? If the former then I would say you have a much better chance than the latter. Is your destination in Asia one that ever has an F cabin?

It's a single award ticket, so the former. As for your second question, I'm not sure yet, I'm trying to figure out if I want to end in HKG or continue. I'm considering places like DPS, which seems to have two cabin service for the most part.

At YYZ check-in, you probably get a boarding pass for the continuing flight (HKG-DPS?) and a lounge invitation card at HKG. So, you can ask/try an F lounge invitation at YYZ check-in as an F traveller. IMHO, you have good chance.

CX continue to use the BA lounge at YYZ. I flew F from there last weekend, and they did not use the F side of the BA lounge, but rather directed me to the Club World side.

Food options were not spectacular in the lounge. I think you maybe on a late night departure, however, so perhaps that will change.
